If you buy a letter, we email it to the address you used at checkout the moment it's drafted, so your own copy is in your inbox from the start. Your case is also kept on our own server just long enough for you to read, save and come back to your letter if you need to: your purchase link keeps working for 30 days. After 30 days your case is deleted, permanently and automatically. If you only check where you stand and don't buy, nothing is kept at all. We keep the records the law requires us to keep about payments (through Stripe), and nothing more. One honest note about the email: like any email, it travels through our mail provider (Microsoft) to reach you, and the copy in your inbox is then under your control, not ours.
We'll answer this the honest way rather than the impressive way. We won't claim it's technically impossible for us to read: our system drafts your letter, so of course it handles the words. The plain truth is simpler: nobody reads it. Your case sits in a locked file on our own server, in no shared database, and it's used for exactly one thing: handing your letter back to you when you open your purchase link. No person looks at it, nothing is trained on it, and we would only ever open a case if you emailed us asking for help with it. After 30 days it's deleted, permanently.
To provide the service we use a small number of infrastructure providers: secure hosting, the AI processing that helps analyse your situation against the law, Stripe for payments, and Microsoft, whose email service carries your letter to your inbox. Each processes your information only to deliver this service, under contract, and not for their own purposes.
Under UK GDPR you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we've fallen short. Given how little we keep, the honest answer to "what do you hold about me?" will usually be "almost nothing", but you're always welcome to ask: contact@canicomplain.com.
We're not a law firm and nothing here is legal advice. Our whole service is this: we show you what the law says, in its own words, and we turn your complaint into a formal letter of claim, drafted with the structure, the precision and the exact citations that formal claims demand. The kind of letter that gets taken seriously the first time. That's it. Nothing more, and nothing hidden. For anything high-value or complicated, Citizens Advice (free) or a solicitor is the right next step, and when we think that's true for your case, we'll say so.
